About Erika

I am a visual artist based in Fernandina Beach, Florida, where I live with my spouse. Acrylic, oil, and watercolor paints are my media of choice. Before becoming a full-time artist, I worked in clinical medicine as a physician assistant (PA) and still maintain an active license and board certification. My formal art education took place at Duke University, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in both Psychology and Visual Arts.

I find something deeply meaningful in crafting the very media I use — including making my own acrylic paints, and occasionally watercolor, from pure pigments and binders. For each piece I create, the behavior of the paint helps guide the process, with the creative goal of conveying nature-inspired color and form.

A technical goal is for my work to stand the test of time, allowing collectors to feel confident in their decision to invest in my art. You can read more about the materials and methods I use to ensure durability in the “Materials” section.
